Petition Text
Drop your groundless legal suit against Mordecai Briemberg, and stop your political persecution of him.
The contentious issues related to the rights and actions of both Israelis and Palestinians, just like other contentious issues of public interest, require open discussion, one that encompasses a broad spectrum of differing perspectives. Any attempt to silence — by harassment, intimidation or censorship — the voices of those with whom one disagrees is anti-democratic and unacceptable.

As a political typesetter/designer/writer/organizer, this story makes my blood freeze. I guess I’ll write CanWest, I’d sooner obliterate them.

Thank you for bringing this appalling, infringement of free speech to my attention. Everyday we Canadians descend further into a fascist state, I wish you good luck Mordecai Briemberg. If all else fails, atleast Europe still exists as a democratic oasis.

I am in total support of the work of Seriously Free Speech to persuade CanWest to drop its frivolous and vexatious lawsuit against Mordecai Briemberg. Please add my name to the petition.

May such cowardice with regard to essential speech remain walled up within those who perpetrate it and not spill over on all of the rest of us. More power to you Prof. Briemberg.

The best way to deal with this matter is not to ask Canwest to drop its action, but rather to use it as an opprtunity to expose its conspiracy with Israel in committing illegal acts. We may be able to get free legal help from Civil Liberties groups as the intent of Canwest’s action is to limit freedom of speech. In addition, another rights activist lawyer(s) may be willing to help for free or at nominal cost. The court proceedings permit the defendants to force Leonard Asper to testify under oath. We have the right to trial by jury in such a case and this can draw wide coverage by “alternative press”. A world renowned expert like Professor Ilan Pappe can provide an affidavit that the news coverage by Canwest constitutes a conspiracy of silence and wilful distortion of the facts. The basis of such an affidavit would be comparing the coverage by Canwest of specific events with that in papers in other countries (Italy, France, Britain and Israe itself).
Canwest appears to have intentionally failed to name the authors of the text and called them Jane and John Doe. It is time that those persons came forward to make the case and the related publicity larger.
I would like to discuss the above further with our hero, Mr. Mordecai Briemberg. Thank you.

If there’s one thing Canadians hate more than wrong-doing, it’s those who expose it.

Please add my name to the petition against this attempt to enforce a blatant denial of our freedom of expression in Canada.

There should be intimidation laws. This action is so frivolous that others should pick up the torch and distribute further parodies of the Vancouver Sun Rag. A copy should be sent to U-Tube so that we could pass it on. At the very least, signers of the petition should be sent an email copy once the case is dropped or won by Mr. Mordecai Briemberg.
Peace,
Warren

A blatant intimidation coup as a way to silence any one who does stand up against human rights’abuses of Palestinians’s.
Freedom of speech is acceptable only when hatred is spout against Arabs and moslems.
You have my full support Mr.Mordecai

Abdul Mousa has an excellent idea: subpoena key witnesses to testify.
Corporate sleaze has a face. Put that face on the stand.
And the story should not be limited to the alternative media. If the mainstream media is not a fraud, it will be there to cover the story.
